As per reports, at around 1200 hours on Wednesday (03 January), trade unions and staff of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) carried out a planned protest at the CEB Head Office in Fort against the newly proposed Electricity Act.
Further, a leader of the trade union also announced that a unanimous decision had been reached to launch an island-wide strike on the day preceding the presentation of the draft bill to Parliament.
