As per the forecast issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), yellow alerts for fog have been issued in the districts of
Fazilka, Mukhtsar, Faridkot, Sangrur, SAS Nagar, Pathankot and Rupnagar while orange alerts for fog/cold day have been issued in all other districts of the state on Wednesday (03 January).

Further, orange alerts have also been issued in most districts including Amritsar, Jalandhar, Moga, Bhathinda, Barnala, Mansa, Patiala, etc. on Thursday (04 January).
