As per the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), a magnitude 5.2 tectonic earthquake was recorded at 1204 hours (local time) on Monday (31 August).
The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, with the epicentre located at 09.80 degrees North, 126.50 degrees East, approximately 37 kilometers north-east of General Luna in Surigao del Norte.
