As per reports, the US National Weather Service Weather Prediction Centre has forecast thunderstorms, severe weather and heavy rainfall across several regions from Friday (28 August) through Sunday (30 August).
• A Slight Risk Level 02 or 05 of severe thunderstorms may affect parts of the Northern Plains and Great Basin (eastern Montana, western North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah and Nevada) on Friday (28 August).
• A Slight Risk Level 02 or 04 of excessive rainfall may affect parts of the Southern Mid Atlantic and Southeast (Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia) on Friday (28 August).
• A quasi stationary front may move off the Northeast Coast (New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts) overnight on Friday (28 August).
• The southern portion of the boundary may continue from the Southern Mid Atlantic (Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina) to the Lower Mississippi Valley (Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi) through Saturday (29 August) night hours.
• Reports indicate that moisture rich air and the nearby front may generate thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across the Southern Mid Atlantic (Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina), Southeast (Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida), and Central and Eastern Gulf Coast (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida) through Sunday (30 August).
• Heavy rainfall may create localised flash flooding, with urban areas, roads, small streams and low lying areas particularly vulnerable. Reportedly, a front extending from the Northern High Plains (Montana and Wyoming) southwestwards to Northern California (northern California) may remain quasi stationary through Saturday (29 August) morning hours.
• A reinforcing boundary may strengthen the front. Thunderstorms may develop across the Great Basin (Nevada and Utah) and Northern Plains (Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Nebraska), particularly from late afternoon into late evening on Friday (28 August) and Saturday (29 August).
• Monsoonal moisture may produce moderate to heavy rainfall across parts of the Southwest (Arizona, New Mexico, southern Nevada and southern Utah) from late afternoon on Friday (28 August) into late evening on Saturday (29 August).
• A Marginal Risk Level 01 or 04 of excessive rainfall remains in place across parts of the Southwest (Arizona, New Mexico, southern Nevada and southern Utah). Heavy rainfall may create localised flash flooding in areas prone to rapid runoff.
• Reports indicate that upper level disturbances may produce thunderstorms across the Northern Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota) on Friday (28 August).
• Thunderstorms may extend into the Upper Mississippi Valley and Upper Great Lakes (Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and northern Illinois) on Saturday (29 August) and Sunday (30 August).
• Reportedly, weak onshore flow and upper level atmospheric energy may generate rainfall across parts of the Pacific Northwest (Washington and Oregon) on Friday (28 August) and Saturday (29 August).
