The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported a magnitude 5.3 earthquake approximately 64 kilometers southeast of Sarangani Island, Municipality of Sarangani, Davao Occidental, at 0243 hours (local time) on Friday (28 August).
• The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres.
• Instrumental Intensity I was recorded in Santa Maria, Davao Occidental, Kiamba, Sarangani, and Matanao, Davao del Sur.
• Instrumental Intensity II was recorded in Digos City, Davao del Sur, and Tupi, South Cotabato.
• Instrumental Intensity III was recorded in Malapatan, Sarangani.
