As per reports, a wildfire broke out in a forested area in Proti, Serres Regional Unit, Macedonia, Greece, on Wednesday (26 August) at approximately 2239 hours local time (1939 hours UTC).

• The fire is burning in a forested area in Proti, Serres. A significant firefighting force has been mobilised in response as of Thursday (27 August).
• The Municipality of Amfipolis is providing support to the Hellenic Fire Service, including engineering equipment and water tankers.
• The Hellenic Fire Service has noted a high wildfire risk across much of Greece on Thursday (27 August), with a very high risk declared for Attica, Crete, Evia, and Aegean islands. The Civil Protection Action Plan for wildfire risk management is in effect for these areas.
