The National Hydrometeorological Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Kazhydromet) has issued weather warnings across several regions of Kazakhstan on Thursday (27 August), with rainfall, thunderstorms, hail, squalls, fog, dust storms, strong winds, mixed precipitation and elevated fire danger forecast.
• Rainfall and thunderstorms: Forecast across parts of Aktobe, Kyzylorda, East Kazakhstan, Mangistau, Kostanay, Akmola and North Kazakhstan regions. Heavy rainfall, hail and squalls are expected in parts of Kostanay and North Kazakhstan, while hail and squalls are also forecast in Akmola. Rainfall and snowfall are expected in eastern and mountainous parts of East Kazakhstan.
• Fog and dust storms: Fog is expected in parts of Aktobe, Zhetysu, East Kazakhstan, Abai and North Kazakhstan, while dust storms are forecast in Kyzylorda, Akmola and North Kazakhstan regions.
• Strong winds: Gusts of 15-20 metres per second are expected across several affected regions, increasing to 25 metres per second in parts of Akmola and North Kazakhstan.
• Fire danger: Extreme fire danger persists across Aktobe, Ulytau, southern Karaganda, central, southern and eastern Zhetysu, southwestern Abai, western and northern Mangistau, southern, southeastern and central Kostanay, and Zhambyl regions. High fire danger remains in parts of Aktobe and Kostanay, and across Kyzylorda Region.
• City-specific conditions: Extreme fire danger remains in Aktobe, Zhezkazgan, Taldykorgan, Aktau and Taraz, while high fire danger persists in Kyzylorda. Rain and thunderstorms are forecast in Kostanay and Kokshetau, while Petropavlovsk may experience rain, thunderstorms, hail and squalls, with wind gusts reaching 25 metres per second.
