The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF) has issued a thunderstorm warning for northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa Province on Wednesday (26 August).
• Thunderstorms and heavy rainfall: Scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast across northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa Province throughout the day and night, with rainfall totals of 15–30 mm and localized heavy rainfall exceeding 80 mm.
• Severe weather: Thunderstorms are expected to be accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong wind gusts. The natural disaster risk level for tornadoes, lightning and hail has been assessed at Level 1.
• The NCHMF reported that scattered showers and thunderstorms affected northern Vietnam and Thanh Hoa during the night of Tuesday (25 August) and the early hours of Wednesday (26 August). Rainfall totals exceeded 80 mm in several locations, including Chieng Khay (Son La) with 94.4 mm, Na Tau (Dien Bien) with 92.2 mm and Phu Tien (Thai Nguyen) with 83.2 mm.
