According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), a magnitude 4.9 earthquake occurred four kilometers north-east of Jalalabad, Afghanistan on Tuesday (25 August) at 0548 hours (local time).

The earthquake was reported at a depth of 10 kilometers.
