The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) reported a magnitude 4.5 earthquake approximately 169 kilometers northwest of Maluku Barat Daya, Maluku, at 0200 hours (local time) on Tuesday (25 August).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.
