The Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) reported a magnitude 4.2 earthquake approximately 86 kilometers northeast of Ruteng, East Nusa Tenggara, at 1247 hours (local time) on Thursday (20 August).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 33 kilometers.
