As per reports, a stampede occurred outside the Ashok Dham Temple (Shri Indradamaneshwar Mahadev Temple) in Lakhisarai district, Bihar on Monday (17 August) between 0630 hours (local time) and 0645 hours (local time).
• An electric pole collapsed on the right side of the men’s queue, triggering widespread rumors that a live electrical wire had fallen into the crowd. The incident resulted in more than seven fatalities and left several others injured.
• Police administration and rescue personnel deployed at the site managed the emergency response and transferred the injured to nearby hospitals.
• The Chief Minister of Bihar announced financial assistance of INR 400,000 for the family of each deceased victim.
