Dhaka authorities strengthen security measures ahead of National Mourning Day on Saturday (15 August)

According to reports, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has intensified security measures across Dhaka ahead of National Mourning Day on Saturday (15 August) to maintain public order and ensure public safety.

• Security deployments have been increased throughout the city, with additional checkpoints established at major entry points into the capital.
• The DMP stated that members of the Detective Branch (DB) and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit have been deployed for operational duties.
• In addition, SWAT, Bomb Disposal Unit, and K-9 Unit personnel will conduct security sweeps at important installations and public gathering sites.
• Authorities have placed key government and strategic facilities under a special security plan, with surveillance to be supported by CCTV cameras and drone monitoring.
• Additional personnel from the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will also be deployed. Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been kept on standby for any emergency situation.
• Enhanced security will be visible at sensitive and high-footfall locations, including metro rail stations, bus terminals, railway stations, launch terminals, shopping centres, major event venues and other critical points across the capital.
