As per reports, active peatland and forest fires (karhutla) continue to burn across six primary locations in four regencies of Riau Province. Joint firefighting operations are ongoing to suppress blazes exacerbated by El Niño-driven drought, dense forest fuel loads, and remote terrain.

• Primary fire sites include Rimbo Panjang Village and Taman Wisata Alam Buluh Cina in Pangkalan Baru Village within Kampar Regency, Palika Village in Rokan Hilir Regency, Buluh Apo Village in Bengkalis Regency and Sungai Guntung Hilir Village in Indragiri Hulu Regency.
• Smoke and haze from these active fires have also drifted into Pekanbaru, deteriorating local air quality.
