As per reports, a fire broke out in the basement of Block No. 9 at the Gujarat Secretariat in Gandhinagar on Monday (10 August). The details are as follows:

• The fire control room received a call regarding the blaze at 0750 hours (local time), following which two fire tenders were rushed to the location.
• Fire teams found that the blaze was confined to the basement of Block No. 9. No casualties were reported in the incident.
• The fire was brought under control after approximately two hours of firefighting efforts, while cooling operations were underway. A record room located in the basement was gutted in the blaze, although the full extent of the damage was not yet known.
• Fire officials reported heavy smoke inside the basement due to the lack of ventilation and were working to clear the smoke. The cause of the fire had not yet been ascertained.
