As per reports, the Nigeria Police Force announced enhanced security measures and a strengthened police deployment across Osun State ahead of the governorship election scheduled on 16 August to support the conduct of the electoral process.
• Approximately 15,000 police personnel will be deployed across the state, including conventional police officers, specialist units, the Police Mobile Force (PMF), canine units, and medical personnel.
• The Commissioner of Police in charge of the election stated that the deployment was brought forward due to heightened tensions ahead of the poll, with senior police officials expected to oversee security operations.
• Reports suggest that individuals arrested for electoral offences during and after the election will be transferred to Abuja for prosecution.
