As per reports, members of the Zacatecas Immediate Reaction Force and Investigative Police engaged armed individuals in the Río Frío area of Calera municipality, Zacatecas, Mexico, during the morning of Saturday (01 August).

• Reports indicate that state authorities initially confirmed the security operation at approximately 1053 hours local time (1653 hours UTC), after armed individuals reportedly attacked personnel conducting preventive patrols.
• Security personnel repelled the attack, killing five armed individuals and seizing eight rifles and three vehicles. Authorities stated that the situation remained under control, although security operations continued across the affected area.
• Officials advised road users to exercise caution and maintain clear passage for security and emergency vehicles operating near Río Frío.
• The incident followed an explosive attack against Luis Moya Municipal Police near Barranquillas at approximately 2200 hours local time (0400 hours UTC 01 August) on Friday (31 July). The earlier attack killed one police officer and seriously injured two others, including the Luis Moya municipal police director.
