The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported a magnitude 4.2 earthquake approximately 76 kilometers northeast of Homonhon Island, Eastern Samar, at 0259 hours (local time) on Sunday (02 August).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.
