Update on flooding and heavy rainfall in Telangana – Wednesday (29 July)

According to reports, following are the latest updates related to flooding in Telangana as on Wednesday (29 July):

• Heavy rainfall affected several districts of Telangana on Wednesday (29 July) with parts of Mulugu, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mancherial and Karimnagar recording intense rainfall between 0830 hours IST and 1500 hours IST, prompting authorities to step up flood monitoring and issue public advisories.
• According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), as of 1500 hours IST, Eturunagaram in Mulugu district recorded the highest rainfall in the State at 122.8 mm followed by 115.3 mm in Wazeed (Mulugu), 100.8 mm in Kannaigudem (Mulugu), 92.8 mm in Kunaram (Peddapalli), 92.3 mm in Mutharam Mahadevpur (Jayashankar Bhupalpally), 82.3 mm in Jaipur (Mancherial) and 76.5 mm in Gundi (Karimnagar).
• Mulugu District Collector inspected the flood-damaged diversion road across the Isuka Vagu between Cheekupalli and Peddagollagudem villages in Wajedu after heavy overnight rainfall washed away the temporary approach road laid beside a bridge under construction. The damage led to the temporary suspension of vehicular movement on National Highway 163, which connects Telangana with Chhattisgarh.
• Meanwhile, district administrations in other rain-hit regions also issued advisories to residents. Jagtial District Collector urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel during the spell of heavy rainfall. He stated that the district administration was fully prepared to respond to any emergencies and had established a 24-hour control room at the Collectorate to coordinate relief measures and provide immediate assistance.
• As on Wednesday (29 July), the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange warning for very heavy rainfall for Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kumaram Bheem, Mancherial, Jagtial, Peddapalle, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, J. Bhupalpally and Mulugu. A yellow warning for heavy rainfall is issued for Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy and B. Kothagudem.
• For Thursday (30 July), IMD has issued an orange warning for very heavy rainfall for Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kumaram Bheem, Mancherial, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Medak, Sangareddy and Vikarabad. A yellow warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Pedappalle, Karimnagar, J. Bhupalpally and Mulugu.
• IMD has also issued a flash flood risk till 1730 hours IST on Thursday (30 July) for Mancherial, Kumarabheem, Asifabad, and Adilabad districts.
