As per reports, a significant wildfire situation continues to affect Northwestern Ontario as of Monday (27 July), with multiple fires remaining active, evacuation orders and alerts in effect, and road closures in place across the region.

• As of Sunday (26 July), approximately 130 active wildfires were burning across Northwestern Ontario, of which 27 were listed as not under control, five were being held, and seven were under control, with the remainder under observation.
• The largest wildfire in the region, designated Thunder Bay 36, remains not under control and spans in excess of 318,000 hectares. FireRanger crews, helicopters, and heavy equipment operators are assigned to active suppression efforts on this fire.
• Evacuation orders remain in effect for areas near the following fires: Dryden 36, Thunder Bay 36, Thunder Bay 54, Thunder Bay 56, Dryden 34, Dryden 35, and Fort Frances 14 as of Monday (27 July).
• The following road closures are in effect due to wildfire activity as of Sunday (26 July): all lanes closed in both directions on Lac des Mille Lacs Road from Inwood Road to Highway 17; Highway 811 closed except for local traffic evacuating the area; and Highway 527 closed in both directions between Tertiary Highway 811 and Armstrong.
• Implementation orders, limiting the ability of people to travel in and around affected fires, have been issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources’ Thunder Bay–Ignace District near Dryden 34, 35 and 36, Fort Frances 14, and Thunder Bay 36, 54 and 56 as of Monday (27 July).
• Northwestern Ontario and a portion of northeastern Ontario remain under a restricted fire zone, prohibiting all open-air burning including campfires as of Monday (27 July).
