Heavy to intense rainfall expected across Mexico on Saturday (25 July)

As per reports, heavy to intense rainfall, thunderstorms, hail and strong winds are expected across northern, western, central and southern regions of Mexico on Saturday (25 July).

• Reports indicate that intense rainfall of 75 to 150 millimetres is forecast in parts of Sinaloa and Durango, while very heavy rainfall of 50 to 75 millimetres is expected in Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Nayarit, Jalisco and Michoacán.
• Heavy rainfall of 25 to 50 millimetres is forecast in Sonora, Colima, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
• Light rainfall is expected in Tamaulipas, San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, the State of Mexico, Hidalgo, Puebla, Veracruz and Tabasco, with isolated rainfall possible in Mexico City, Morelos, Guanajuato, Querétaro and Tlaxcala.
• Rainfall may be accompanied by lightning and hail, increasing the risk of flash flooding, river and stream overflows, landslides, and waterlogging in low-lying or poorly drained areas.
• Wind gusts of 50 to 70 kilometres per hour are forecast in Chihuahua, Durango, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Puebla and Oaxaca. Gusts of 40 to 60 kilometres per hour are possible across several other affected states.
