As per reports, the Argentine National Meteorological Service (SMN) has issued red, orange and yellow weather alerts for Thursday (23 July) due to extreme cold, heavy snowfall and strong winds affecting several provinces.

• A red alert for extreme cold remains in effect for Santa Cruz Province, where minimum temperatures may fall to minus 11 degrees Celsius, posing a significant risk to public health. A yellow alert for extreme cold has also been issued for Tierra del Fuego Province.
• A yellow snowfall alert is in effect for Tierra del Fuego Province, the Andean regions of Río Negro Province (Bariloche, Pilcaniyeu, Ñorquincó and surrounding mountain areas) and the Andean regions of Neuquén Province (Los Lagos, Lácar, Huiliches and southern Aluminé departments), where 20-50 centimeter of snowfall is forecast in mountainous areas and ten centimeter to 30 centimeter in lower elevations.
• Meanwhile, an orange snowfall alert has been issued for the Andean regions of Mendoza Province (Las Heras, Luján de Cuyo, Tupungato, San Carlos, Tunuyán, Malargüe and San Rafael mountain sectors) and the Andean regions of San Juan Province (Calingasta and Iglesia departments), where 50-150 centimeter of accumulated snowfall is expected, accompanied by reduced visibility.
• Additionally, yellow wind alerts remain in effect for the Andean regions of Mendoza and San Juan, as well as parts of Salta, Jujuy, Santiago del Estero and La Rioja provinces, with westerly winds of 60-80 kilometer per hour and gusts reaching up to 100 kilometer per hour.
