As per reports, authorities will enforce the Hoy No Circula (No Driving Today) vehicle restriction program across the Mexico City Metropolitan Area on Monday (20 July), between 0500 hours local time (1100 hours UTC) and 2200 hours local time (0400 hours UTC on 21 July).
• The measure aims to reduce vehicular emissions and improve air quality across the metropolitan area. Vehicles carrying verification holograms one or two, a yellow sticker, and licence plates ending in five or six will be prohibited from circulating during the restriction period.
• The measure also applies to foreign-registered vehicles meeting the specified criteria. Vehicles carrying 00 and zero holograms are exempt from the regular restriction.
• The program applies across all 16 boroughs of Mexico City and 18 designated municipalities in the State of Mexico. Motorists violating the restrictions may face fines. Additional vehicle restrictions could be introduced if authorities declare an environmental contingency due to deteriorating air quality.
