Road accident closes I-40 East at South Elm-Eugene Street in Greensboro, North Carolina on Saturday (18 July)

As per reports, an accident involving injuries has resulted in the closure of Interstate 40 (I-40) eastbound at the South Elm-Eugene Street exit in Greensboro, Guilford County.

• All lanes of I-40 eastbound between South Elm-Eugene Street (Exit 221) and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive (Exit 222) are closed as a result of the accident.
• The Greensboro Police Department has confirmed that injuries have occurred in connection with the incident.
• Traffic in the affected area is being diverted onto South Elm-Eugene Street. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes of travel as of 1500 hours local time (1900 hours UTC) as of Saturday (18 July).
