As per reports, the Servicio Nacional de Prevención y Respuesta ante Desastres (SENAPRED) has issued a weather warning across the Maule and Biobio regions on Saturday (18 July).

• Meteorological reports indicate that a deep low-pressure system and a polar air mass are tracking across the central-sur zone.
• Convective clouds are expected to generate highly unstable conditions conducive to the development of waterspouts over the ocean.
• Wind gusts accompanying the frontal system are anticipated to reach speeds between 74 and 100 kilometres per hour along the coast and valley areas.
• Persistent rainfall accumulations are forecast to reach up to 60 millimetres in short intervals, increasing the risk of urban flooding.
• Soil saturation from the heavy rainfall has prompted secondary warnings for potential soil mass removals and mudslides in areas lacking vegetation.
• Maritime authorities have suspended all diving, fishing, and general port operations within the active warning zones to protect coastal assets.
• The affected areas include Talcahuano, Concepción, Arauco, Constitución, Cauquenes, and Lebu, with key road corridors at risk, including Route 5, Route 160, and Route CH-126.
