As per reports, wildfires have been reported across Algeria on Friday (17 July), with more than 100 fires recorded amid ongoing heatwave conditions and temperatures forecast to reach 48 degrees Celsius or higher in some areas through Sunday (19 July).

• Reports indicate that 111 wildfires affecting forests, brushland, agricultural areas and palm groves were recorded, with 65 fires brought under control and 46 remaining active across 18 provinces.
• The Civil Protection Directorate has ordered the immediate recall of personnel across 45 provinces, including members of the National Training and Intervention Unit, to strengthen firefighting preparedness and response operations.
• Major firefighting operations are underway in Bejaia, Annaba, Skikda, Blida, Tizi Ouzou, Boumerdes, Ain Defla and Tlemcen provinces.
• Authorities have carried out precautionary evacuations in areas where wildfires threatened residential communities.
• In Bejaia province, approximately 100 residents from two villages in the Imarat area of Barbacha municipality were evacuated, while around 200 people were relocated in Blida due to nearby fire activity.
• Officials reported that a wildfire in Ain Defla province continues to threaten homes and property, with firefighting teams continuing operations to contain the blaze and prevent further spread.
