As per the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), the Shanxi Provincial Department of Water Resources and the Shanxi Provincial Meteorological Bureau jointly issued a meteorological risk warning for flash floods at 1800 hours (local time) on Thursday (16 July).

The warning is valid from 2000 hours (local time) on Thursday (16 July) until 2000 hours (local time) on Friday (17 July).

• A yellow warning, indicating a relatively high probability of flash floods, has been issued for 24 counties across four cities, including southwestern Changzhi City, Jincheng City, eastern Linfen City, and Yuncheng City.
• A blue warning has also been issued for 39 counties across four cities, including Jinzhong City, southeastern Lüliang City, Changzhi City, and Linfen City, where flash floods may occur.
• Authorities also warned that other parts of Shanxi Province may experience flash floods due to localized short-duration heavy rainfall. Local authorities have been advised to strengthen real-time monitoring, issue flood warnings, and implement evacuation and shelter measures where necessary.
