The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that a 4.1 magnitude earthquake occurred 60 kilometres northwest of Calayan, Cagayan, at 0533 hours (local time) on Thursday (16 July).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 24 kilometres.
