Jagannath Rath Yatra to be held in Kolkata from Thursday (16 July) to Thursday (23 July)

As per reports, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Kolkata will organise the 55th Jagannath Rath Yatra (religious procession) from Thursday (16 July) to Thursday (23 July).

The details are as follows:

• West Bengal Chief Minister Shuvendu Adhikari is expected to inaugurate the event and is expected to arrive at approximately 1115 hours (local time) on Thursday (16 July). The Chief Minister will formally inaugurate the Rath Yatra by pulling the ceremonial rope of the chariot.
• The procession is scheduled to commence from the ISKCON Kolkata Temple on Albert Road at 1200 hours (local time). The chariot will proceed via Hungerford Street, Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Road, Sarat Bose Road, Hazra Road, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Road, Exide Crossing, Jawaharlal Nehru Road and Outram Road before reaching Brigade Parade Ground.
• The chariot will remain at Brigade Parade Ground until Thursday (23 July), with distribution of prasad (offering) scheduled to begin from 1530 hours (local time) on Thursday (16 July).
• The return procession is scheduled for Thursday (23 July), when the chariot will travel from Brigade Parade Ground via Jawaharlal Nehru Road, Esplanade Crossing, Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose Road, Moulali Crossing, Philips More, Anand Palit Road, Park Circus Seven Point Crossing and Syed Amir Ali Avenue before returning to the ISKCON Kolkata Temple.
