As per reports, following are the latest updates on weather warnings and related disruptions due to Severe Tropical Storm Bavi in China, as of Sunday (12 July).

• Typhoon Bavi was downgraded to a severe tropical storm on Sunday (12 July) after making landfall in eastern China’s Zhejiang Province, where authorities had evacuated nearly two million people.
• At around 0500 hours (local time) on Sunday (12 July), its intensity weakened to severe tropical storm levels. The eye of the storm was near the major commercial hub of Yiwu and is expected to head northwest, warning of force 11 winds of around 108 kilometres per hour.
• Strong winds and heavy rainfall are expected to impact many eastern Chinese cities on Sunday (12 July). Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport were expected to cancel around 653 inbound and outbound flights due to Bavi. In the coastal city of Yueqing in Zhejiang province, over 1,300 trees were toppled, including at least 700 uprooted.
