Update on landslide reported in Wayanad – Saturday (11 July)

As per reports, following are the latest updates on the post-rescue operations due to landslide reported in Wayanad, as of Saturday (11 July);

• Search and rescue operations are continuing for the fifth consecutive day on Saturday (11 July), with rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Fire and Rescue Services, and Kerala Police continuing extensive search efforts to locate the remaining missing worker.
• In addition, with the recovery of one additional body on Friday (10 July), the death toll has risen to seven. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Fire and Rescue teams have intensified search operations along the Meenachipuzha river to trace the lone missing person.
• The intensified operation comes a day after authorities announced that rescue teams would focus on Zone 02 of the landslide site, where authorities believe a detailed excavation could help locate the missing person.
• The Kerala government has constituted a three-member expert committee to inspect the Wayanad tunnel and township project sites and submit recommendations for the safe removal of debris accumulated following a landslide.
