As per reports, Colombian President Gustavo Petro called for a nationwide mobilisation across public squares in Colombia on 20 July, coinciding with the country’s Independence Day celebrations.

• Reports indicate that Petro intends to deliver his farewell address to the public on 20 July rather than during the traditional presidential transition period on 06 August to 07 August.
• Reportedly, the main Independence Day military parade in Bogotá, Colombia, is scheduled to take place in the districts of Bosa and Ciudad Bolívar, where Petro is also expected to address supporters.
• Reports suggest that the president encouraged supporters to gather in public squares nationwide to demonstrate support for policies implemented during his administration.
• Authorities stated that Petro reiterated his intention to leave office in accordance with the constitutional transfer of power scheduled for August 2026.
