As per reports, a farmers’ protest was reported at the Dussehra Ground in Sector 34, Chandigarh, on Friday (10 July). The details are as follows:

• Since the morning hours, large convoys of farmers, agricultural labourers, youth and women from Bathinda and several other districts of Punjab travelled to Chandigarh in buses and other vehicles to participate in the gathering.
• The large influx of participants resulted in significant traffic congestion on major roads, particularly along the stretch connecting Sector 34 and Sector 17 via Matka Chowk.
• Chandigarh Police implemented extensive security arrangements and traffic diversions. Barricades were erected with administrative approval to regulate movement around the protest site, resulting in slower traffic flow and congestion across several adjoining roads.
• Organisers are also expected to announce the next phase of their agitation, and authorities continue to remain on alert while traffic diversions remain in place.
