Hoy no circula restrictions announced in Mexico City and State of Mexico on Saturday (20 June)

As per reports, the ‘Hoy No Circula’ programme is in effect on Saturday (20 June) from 0500 hours local time (1100 hours UTC) to 2200 hours local time (0400 hours UTC, Sunday), restricting vehicle movement across Mexico City and the State of Mexico.

• Reports indicate that vehicles with hologram one, licence plates ending in one, three, five, seven and nine, and all hologram two vehicles are restricted during the stated hours.
• Vehicles with foreign registration plates, including those from outside the Megalopolis region (Hidalgo, Morelos, Puebla, Querétaro, Tlaxcala), are also restricted from circulation.
• Exemptions apply to vehicles with hologram zero and double zero, electric and hybrid vehicles, motorcycles, taxis, public transport, freight transport, and healthcare vehicles.
• Non-compliance may result in fines of up to 2,346 pesos (approx. 135 USD) in the State of Mexico and between 2,346 and 3,519 pesos (approx. 135 to 200 USD) in Mexico City, along with possible vehicle impoundment.
