CMA issues orange alert for geological disaster meteorological risk across parts of China on Thursday (18 June)

The China Meteorological Administration (CMA) has issued an orange alert for geological disaster meteorological risk across parts of China on Thursday (18 June).

• Parts of central and southern Guangdong, central and eastern Guangxi, central Chongqing, western Guizhou and western Yunnan are expected to face a relatively high meteorological risk of geological disasters under a yellow alert.
• Some areas in western Guizhou are expected to face a high meteorological risk of geological disasters under an orange alert.
• Authorities have urged governments and relevant departments to implement emergency plans for geological disaster prevention. The public has been advised to monitor meteorological risk warnings and exercise caution while travelling to areas under warning.
• People at high-risk hazard points and threatened areas within orange alert zones have been advised to evacuate immediately to nearby safe shelters as directed by local disaster prevention departments. People near slopes, cliffs, gullies or water bodies have also been advised to evacuate to nearby safe shelters according to evacuation signals.
• People within yellow alert zones have been advised to monitor changes in warning information, follow nearby warning signs and avoid staying in high-risk areas such as valleys, slopes and steep cliffs.
