Forest fire reported in Yeongyang-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, on Wednesday (17 June)

According to reports, a forest fire broke out on a hill in Sangwon-ri, Yeongyang-eup, Yeongyang-gun, North Gyeongsang Province, at around 1754 hours (local time) on Wednesday (17 June).

• Forest authorities deployed two helicopters, 38 vehicles, and 135 personnel to the site. The main fire was extinguished at around 2045 hours (local time), nearly three hours after it started.
• Around 0.4 hectares of state-owned forest are estimated to have been damaged. Personnel have remained deployed at the site for mop-up operations, ember clearance, and monitoring for possible reignition.
• Authorities are expected to investigate the cause of the wildfire and assess the exact extent of damage after cleanup work is completed.
