The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the following weather warnings in Kerala on Tuesday and Wednesday (16-17 June):
• Tuesday (16 June): A yellow alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and strong surface winds in Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam, while the remaining districts are under a yellow alert for thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and strong surface winds.
• In addition, as per the IMD Nowcast issued at 1900 hours and valid till 2200 hours (local time) on Tuesday (16 June), a yellow alert for light rainfall of less than 05 mm/h is activated in Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode, Idukki, and Kottayam, while a yellow alert for light thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speed of less than 40 km/h and moderate rainfall of 05-15 mm/h is activated in Pathanamthitta.
• Wednesday (17 June): The yellow alert continues to be issued in all the districts.
• No further weather warnings are issued in the forecast for Thursday (18 June).
