Max Fire brush fire reported near Stevenson Ranch, Los Angeles County, California, on Monday (15 June)

As per reports, a brush fire designated the Max Fire broke out in the Stevenson Ranch community of the Santa Clarita Valley, Los Angeles County, California, on Monday (15 June).

• The fire was first reported at approximately 1600 hours local time (2300 hours UTC) near Magnolia Lane and Autumn Place in Stevenson Ranch, in the vicinity of Pico Canyon Park.
• The fire was initially estimated at a quarter of an acre but spread rapidly to approximately 15 acres within the first hour of ignition. Two helicopters dropped off hand crews, with an additional helicopter deploying flame-retardant material on the hillside as the fire continued to advance towards a second residential neighbourhood near Jasmine and Summerhill Lanes.
• As of 1720 hours local time (0020 hours UTC on 16 June) on Monday (15 June), the fire had grown to approximately 32 acres. Structure protection was established off Gloriso Lane and Favoloso Court to the east of the fire.
• Evacuation orders were issued for Zone STV-PICO at approximately 1732 hours local time (0032 hours UTC).
• As of 1740 hours local time (0040 hours UTC), the fire had burned approximately 15 acres. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
