As per reports, the Latvian Road Transport Directorate (ATD) has announced changes to four regional bus routes in the Vidzeme and Latgale regions, effective from 01 July.
• On the Riga to Balvi route, two new trial services may operate on Mondays, Saturdays and Sundays for a six month experimental period.
• Departures are scheduled at 1130 hours local time (0830 hours UTC) from Balvi Bus Station and at 1810 hours local time (1510 hours UTC) from Riga International Bus Station. The services may operate via Rugāji.
• Reportedly, passenger demand and usage data from the first three months of the trial may be assessed by the Public Transport Council to determine the future of the services.
• On the Viļaka to Vecumi to Lavošnieki route, services may continue on Mondays and Fridays, departing Lavošnieki at 0750 hours local time (0450 hours UTC) and Viļaka Bus Station at 1610 hours local time (1310 hours UTC).
• On the Balvi to Upetnieki to Balvi route, the school holiday service departing Balvi Bus Station at 0630 hours local time (0330 hours UTC) on Mondays and Fridays may be withdrawn.
• Commuters may alternatively use the Balvi to Lubāna to Madona route departing Madona Bus Station at 0620 hours local time (0320 hours UTC) from Monday to Saturday.
• Reportedly, seasonal timetable adjustments on the Alūksne to Mārkalne to Zabolova route commenced on Friday (12 June) and may continue until 31 August.
• Weekday departures are scheduled at 0630 hours local time (0330 hours UTC) from Alūksne Bus Station and at 0755 hours local time (0455 hours UTC) from Zabolova.
• The affected services are designated as school holiday operations and operate during periods when educational institutions are closed to accommodate changes in travel demand.
