The China Meteorological Administration (CMA) has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall across parts of China on Monday (15 June).
• Heavy to torrential rainfall is expected across most parts of Guangdong, central and southern Guangxi, central and southern Fujian, western Taiwan, eastern and northwestern Yunnan, northern Liaoning and central and western Jilin.
• Some areas in the Pearl River Estuary and eastern coastal areas of Guangdong, southeastern and southwestern Guangxi, and southeastern Yunnan are expected to experience extremely heavy rainfall.
• Localised exceptionally heavy rainfall of 250-280 mm is forecast along parts of the Guangdong coast.
• The affected areas are also expected to experience short-duration heavy rainfall, with maximum hourly precipitation of 30-50 mm and localised accumulations exceeding 90 mm per hour.
• Thunderstorms and strong convective weather are also expected in some of the affected areas.
