Planned state-owned enterprise consolidation raises workforce concerns in Indonesia

As per reports on Sunday (14 June), President Prabowo Subianto stated that the number of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and their subsidiaries could be streamlined from around 1,000 entities to between 200 and 300 companies.

While the President emphasised that the restructuring should not lead to mass layoffs, the announcement has drawn attention due to the potential implications for employment and organisational restructuring.
