As per reports, the Kaliabor co‑district administration imposed restrictions on public movement on Wednesday (10 June) after two Royal Bengal tigers were sighted near villages adjoining the Kamakhya Reserve Forest.

• The prohibitory order, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), restricts public movement between 1400 hours and 0900 hours (local time) in several areas, including the stretch from Silghat Kamakhya Temple to Kamakhya Gaon and Sonari Gaon, as well as parts of the Kaliabor Tea Estate, Naga Pathar, and the road linking Trishuldhari Temple and Silghat Jute Mill.
• Authorities stated that the restrictions aim to minimise the risk of human‑wildlife conflict as the tigers are believed to have strayed from the reserve forest into nearby inhabited areas.
• Forest department personnel have been deployed to monitor the situation, and residents have been urged to avoid restricted zones, remain vigilant, and inform authorities of any sightings.
• Government officials on duty have been exempted from the restrictions, and the order will remain in force until further notice, with violations attracting legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
