As per reports, a new frontal system moving northward from southern Chile is expected to bring rainfall to Santiago and surrounding areas of the Metropolitan Region on Wednesday (10 June).

• According to forecasts from the Chilean Meteorological Directorate (DMC), the first precipitation is expected to begin between 0100 hours local time (0500 hours UTC) and 0200 hours local time (0600 hours UTC) and continue through much of the day.
• The most persistent rainfall is forecast during the morning hours, with precipitation gradually weakening during the afternoon and becoming more isolated by approximately 1700 hours local time (2100 hours UTC).
• Total rainfall accumulations are forecast to range between five millimeter and 15 mm across the Metropolitan Region.
• Areas expected to experience the most significant rainfall include San José de Maipo and southern sectors of the metropolitan area, including Buin, Paine, and Calera de Tango.
• The National Disaster Prevention and Response Service has placed ten municipalities under Preventive Early Warning due to the frontal system.
• Municipalities covered by the warning include San José de Maipo, Puente Alto, Pirque, La Florida, Peñalolén, La Reina, Las Condes, Lo Barnechea, Vitacura, and El Monte.
• Following the passage of the weather system, temperatures are expected to fall significantly on Thursday (11 June), with minimum temperatures of two degrees Celsius to three degrees Celsius in Santiago and near-freezing conditions possible in rural sectors.
