As per reports, a magnitude 5.1 earthquake occurred in the Celebes Sea near the coast of Sulawesi Utara, Indonesia, at 0229 hours (local time) on Tuesday (09 June).
• The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 70 kilometres, with the epicentre located near 4.9304 degrees North latitude and 125.4615 degrees East longitude in the Sangihe Islands region of Sulawesi Utara.
• The earthquake has been described as an aftershock of the major earthquake that occurred in the same region approximately 19 hours earlier.
• Estimated shaking intensity near the epicentre was reported at IV, indicating light shaking. Weak shaking was also reported in nearby areas of the Philippines, including Sarangani, Glan and General Santos.
• There have been no immediate reports of casualties, injuries, structural damage or transport disruptions linked to the earthquake.
