As per reports, authorities in Granada will implement traffic restrictions and road closures in the city centre on Thursday (04 June) due to the annual Corpus Christi procession, one of the city’s largest religious and cultural events.
• The event will begin with a solemn Mass at Granada Cathedral at 0900 hours local time (0700 hours UTC). The historical civic procession is scheduled to depart Granada City Hall at 0945 hours local time (0745 hours UTC), while the main religious procession will depart from the Puerta de la Encarnación at 1015 hours local time (0815 hours UTC). The departure of the Corpus Christi Monstrance is expected at approximately 1050 hours local time (0850 hours UTC).
• The procession route will pass through Plaza de las Pasiegas, Marqués de Gerona, Mesones, Puerta Real, Reyes Católicos, Plaza Isabel la Católica, Gran Vía de Colón, Cárcel Baja, before returning to Granada Cathedral, where the event is expected to conclude at approximately 1230 hours local time (1030 hours UTC).
• Large crowds are anticipated along the procession route, with participation from religious brotherhoods, Eucharistic associations, clergy, municipal authorities, cultural groups, giants and big-headed figures (“Gigantes y Cabezudos”), and the traditional Tarasca procession.
