As per reports, a powerful explosion occurred at the Fisheries Complex on Walter Mongonsid Street in Yenures Village, Biak Kota District, Biak Numfor Regency, Papua, at around 1445 hours (local time) on Sunday (31 May).

• Preliminary data indicates that at least five individuals died and 10 houses were damaged by the explosion that allegedly occurred due to a World War II bomb detonating.
• The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) have arrived at the location to conduct evacuations and sterilization.
