Disruptions reported on CTA rail services on Tuesday (26 May)

As per reports, significant rail disruptions have been reported on multiple Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) rail lines near Belmont in Chicago on Tuesday (26 May).

CTA authorities stated that Kimball-bound Brown Line, Howard-bound Red Line, and Linden-bound Purple Line trains are halted near Belmont due to a mechanical issue involving a train.

• Chicago Fire Department deployed personnel to the scene amid reports of fire. Authorities stated that response teams remain on-site and restoration efforts are ongoing.
• CTA confirmed that rail services on the Brown, Red, and Purple Lines are experiencing major delays.
• Bus shuttle services have been requested in both directions between Kimball and Fullerton for Brown Line passengers, and between Howard and Fullerton for Red and Purple Line passengers. Additional shuttle services have also been requested between Howard and Belmont for Purple Line commuters.
• Suggested alternative transportation options include bus routes 81 Lawrence, 152 Addison, and 22 Clark while crews continue working to restore normal operations.
