As per reports, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Employees Union has withdrawn its support for the proposed statewide transport strike scheduled from Wednesday (20 May), following discussions with the Labour Commissioner and the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) Managing Director.

• The union stated that it would step away from the proposed strike after receiving assurances that employees’ demands would be taken up with the state government, including before the Chief Minister when possible.
• Employees affiliated with the withdrawing union are expected to report for duty as usual on Wednesday (20 May), reducing the likelihood of immediate large-scale disruption to KSRTC and BMTC services across Karnataka.
• However, uncertainty persists as other unions under the broader Joint Action Committee may continue to maintain pressure over wage-related demands, including the demand for a 25 percent wage hike and settlement of pending dues.
• The development comes after the Karnataka High Court issued an interim order restraining transport unions from proceeding with the proposed strike from Wednesday (20 May). The matter is scheduled for further hearing on Thursday (21 May), while further clarity is awaited on the government’s negotiation timeline with union representatives.
