As per reports, a strike involving 4,416 workers across 331 companies began at 0800 hours local time (0600 hours UTC), at hospitality, catering, and retail outlets across six major Norwegian airports: Oslo Airport Gardermoen, Bergen Airport Flesland, Stavanger Airport Sola, Trondheim Airport Værnes, Sandefjord Airport Torp, and Kristiansand Airport Kjevik, on Monday (18 May).
• The strike has been initiated by Fellesforbundet under the umbrella of the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions amid ongoing negotiations with employer association NHO Reiseliv.
• Key demands include increased purchasing power and advance payment of sick pay.
• The Norwegian Labour Ombudsman Mads Ruland has summoned both parties for mediation.
