The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a 4.3 magnitude earthquake occurred approximately 118 kilometers north-northwest of Kimbe, Papua New Guinea, at around 0413 hours (local time) on Monday (18 May).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 572.7 kilometers.
